Social Tennis

Seniors
The strength of Colinton Lawn Tennis Club is its 'social tennis' for competent tennis players. Senior members can turn up at any of the following times throughout the year and join in the sociable 'doubles play':
Saturdays - 1.30 pm to 5.00 pm (the main playing day)
Wednesdays - 6.30 p.m to 9.00 pm

Members arrange amongst themselves to play at other times. None of the courts is bookable, so play is on a rotational basis if others are waiting. In such circumstances, members should play one short set (i.e. maximum of 10 games plus one short tie break) and doubles play is preferred over singles play. In addition, senior players must respect the courts and times made available for junior players as outlined below. In addition, senior players must take their turn with junior players, except on Saturday afternoons when senior players have preference.

Juniors
Juniors may not play on a Saturday afternoon between 1.30 pm and 4.00 pm in April, May and June. During the rest of the year, junior members may play on a Saturday afternoon between 1.30 pm and 4.00 pm if a court is available. Juniors may play at any other times, except during the match season (mid-April to end of June) when three courts are required for senior matches. One short set (i.e. a maximum of 10 games plus a short tie-break) should be played if others are waiting and, in such circumstances, doubles play should be given preference over singles play.

Club Social Programme and Special Events

Monday 11th April - Friday 13th Junior Easter Camp.
Saturday April 16^th – Senior American Tournament at 2 pm, followed immediately by cheese and wine in the clubhouse.
Saturday April 30th – Wimbledon Draw at 2 pm,Suzi Mair - member and ex Wimbledon player.
Sunday May 1st – Road to Wimbledon under-14 junior tournament at 2pm.
Sunday May 8^th– Open day for non-members 10 am to 4 pm (coaching and free to play).
Saturday June 25^th – Senior American Tournament followed by mid-summer barbecue.
Sunday June 26^th – Junior American Tournament followed by mid-summer barbecue.
Monday July 25^th-  – Friday 29th - 1st Junior Summer Camp.
Monday August 8^th-  – Friday 12th - 2nd Junior Summer Camp.
Sunday August 21st - Family Day (members and non-members welcome) .
Sunday August 28^th – Junior Club Tournaments.
Saturday September 3rd – Sunday 4^{th -} Finals weekend for Club Tournaments.
Saturday October 1st – Quiz Night and presentation of senior tournament trophies.  Starts at 7.30pm.  The quiz night is always a popular social evening with friendly rivalry between randomly drawn teams.
